What is Linux?

Linux is a Unix-like operating system that was named after its creator, Linus Torvalds. Linux is capable of running on a large variety of computer systems including Intel based PCs, Digital/Compaq Alphas, PowerPC based PCs (Macintosh, BeBox, etc.), Sun Sparc & Sun Ultra, Amiga, Corel NetWinder, and even the 3Com Palm Pilot.
World renowned for its speed and reliability as both a Web server and a workstation, Linux is a full 32 bit operating system. The best thing about Linux is that it is a free operating system.
